Honorée F. Jeffers

Honorée Fanonne Jeffers is the author of five books of poetry, The Gospel of Barbecue (Kent State, 2000), Outlandish Blues (Wesleyan, 2003), Red Clay Suite (Southern Illinois, 2007), The Glory Gets (Wesleyan, 2015), and The Age of Phillis (Wesleyan, 2020), which was longlisted for the National Book Award in poetry. In 2018 she received the Harper Lee Award for Literary Distinction, a lifetime achievement award. Her debut novel, The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois, was published by Harper in 2021. It was longlisted for the National Book Award in fiction, a finalist for the 2021 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, and selected as a NYT 10 Best Books of 2021. She is a professor of English at the University of Oklahoma, where she has taught since 2002.
